Map progress, metal news

I’ve begun coloring in my map of the metal world with gouche, and I’m pretty excited by how it looks. Gouche dries flat and matte, giving the map an old-school hand painted feel. I should be finished in a week or so. After all the countries have been painted, I’m going to fill the ocean areas in with graphite. I want to get a nice silvery look, so I’m planning on using a hard grade graphite. I’ll post images of the map when it’s all colored in.

Around the interweb, I found a journalist in New Zealand who believes metal is the answer for idle, angry youth.

In another example of metal-inspired art, Aye Jay Morano has produced a heavy metal coloring book. Check it out.
